movers and shakers : The Indian Maragoli Connection





we take you behind the walls of a school attended by students mainly of Indian origin, but who can fluently sing and even dance to Luhya tunes as well as songs composed in other languages. Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj School in Nairobi could be one of the schools with the longest names but one, which embraces culture from various tribes in a big way. Judy Kosgei spent some time in the school, and brings us the story of children who even scooped the number one position after presenting a Maragoli song in last year's Kenya music festivals. Here is the story as suggested by Andrew Agama, a teacher at the school.
