“SHEBESHED”: NAIROBI’S NEW STREET SLANG: KIDERO SLAPS SHEBESH, THEN QUICKLY FORGETS…

“They told us from on-set that theirs is a #serikali ya kusema na kutenda…sonko says, kidero acts or does!”

That was the first comment that welcomed me on Facebook last Friday. Apparently drama had unfolded at City Hall after Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero allegedly slapped women Representative Rachel Shebesh during a heated verbal exchange outside his office.

What a week it has been! The confrontation stole the limelight from another altercation between Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi and Kiss FM’S radio presenter, Carolyn Mutoko; that happened the day before, in a morning show.

Let’s begin the lesson by first defining what the word “shebeshed” means. It refers to the Nairobi’s street slang for a slap-and when asked; you claim you do not remember anything. Pull a Shaggy Wasn’t me!

With barely 2 days after the incident; the word “shebeshed” has since become a catchphrase among Nairobi’s urbanites and taken on various new meaning.

DONGEE! Here are the clips from YouTube…
