the CBD, it takes approximately 30 minutes on mere two wheels (with no traffic)
to her home at Upper-Hill ,Nairobi. The house setting looks like those
apartment buildings of the old colonial era and probably among the oldest in
the city.
Being
an anthropology and one who travels and has been to many exciting destinations,
it is no wonder the green plants at her compound have decided to find comfort
here. But also her home is full of her collector’s items from different destinations
worldwide.
She
had to renovate the place; re-designing the space: from the doors, décor, and
color and wardrobe cabinets.
Her
décor reads a love for art-fine art, nature, colors and her extra-ordinary
collection of boxes and old wine boxes from different places if the world.
The
furniture set in the living room is unique and minimalistic but the room
definitely has a complete feel to it; with an old wine-box as a table, a couch;
and a book shelf made from recycled wood.
From
the living room, one can walk over to her French-windowed balcony overlooking
Upper Hill and the vast south area of Nairobi.
Her
palette of furnishing materials also ranges from different coloured linens and
kikoi upholstered chair- pillows. Her floor is wooden.
She
has used different colors on different walls as arty expressions of her
lifestyle and big style statements.
Her
beige walls help you stare at her still-growing gallery of images of places she
has been to and some of the hand—done portraits of her by different renowned
artists worldwide.
Her
kitchen walls and dining area have also different colors-a feature that
lightens the mood while you’re cooking and sharing meals.
This
home is a perfect example of how you can turn a mono-colored space into a
vibrant universe with a retreat feel that is definitely warm and cozy.
