DAKAR- A CITY OF ART, HISTORY AND CULTURE…
FACT FILE:
-          Dakar is both the capital and largest city of Senegal.
-          Official language in Senegal is French, but English is both widely spoken and understood.

GREAT ATTRACTIONS:
-          PINK LAKE

-          BANDIA ANIMAL RESERVE

-          AFRICAN RENAISSANCE MONUMENT: the tallest structure in the world, outside Asia and the former Soviet Union.

-          GOREE ISLAND: was declared a World Heritage Site in 1978. It used to be a slave trading station once upon a time.

-          THE MARKET PLACE: they are two big colorful and bustling markets in Dakar. One is Marche kermel and the other is Marche sandage. With close proximity to each other, they sell handicrafts.

-          DAKAR CATHEDRAL: the 75 year old cathedral is the largest in the city and has 4 beautiful angels adorning the face of it

-          DAKAR GRAND MOSQUE: built in 1964, it was designed by the French and Moroccan architects, to represent the Mecca style of Mosque architecture.

-          IFAN (INSITUT FONDAMENTA D’ AFRIQUE NOIR) MUSEUM: art lovers you have to stop here for a display of past and contemporary African art.
