#DAYSTARDECIDES2014
It has started again.
Cries of comradeship pervade the vicinity of campuses. April is here and
Daystar University Students Association (DUSA) elections are upon us again. If the
recent goings-on are anything to believe, then there is a major storm in the
offing.
For DUSA-Athi campus,
dark clouds are gathering. They are heavy with rampant student strikes. For Nairobi
campus, they are heavy with incessant institutional bureaucracy and general laxity
of the administration in handling student affairs, poor service and ongoing
changes on policies.
When these clouds
finally have their fill; which should be sometime towards end of the month; it
will not just rain. It will pour. Torrents and hailstones. It will flood the
entire university.
This weather forecast
predicts that a hurricane shall sweep across both campuses. I have a feeling
the university will not be able to contain the raging floods.
For quite some time,
Daystar University has lacked that one leader feared by many administrations. He
or she who questions them. A student leader who makes them to account. A Man of the people but an enemy to the administration
that sheds the sheep cloak they wear to cover up their manes.
Any university wants a
marionette. Someone who will dance, not a man in a military uniform. They want a
unicorn to prop around.
But no. the masses
have arisen. They speak in solid tones of “No mercy”. They say that the rain
has beaten them for far too long.
