“This time round we are doing a thorough nocturnal awakening, as we’re bringing the spirit of the coast to major towns in Kenya and showcasing Smirnoff’s versatility through long mixed cocktail drinks including black Mamba, Screwdriver and Jamaican Sunrise. We will not only be serving the cocktails, but we will also educate Smirnoff consumers on how to prepare the cocktails” says Evanson Mbugua, Smirnoff’s Brand Manager in Kenya. “We chose the beach theme as it is fresh, resonates with fun times and compliments Smirnoff cocktails and this flexibility is what consumers are looking for in beverage preferences.”

Smirnoff fiesta will feature a line-up of top notch DJs, led by well-known names such as DJ Joe Mfalme, DJ Styles, DJ Riggs, and DJ Neerav.
“Smirnoff has a long tradition of supporting and promoting local DJ talent, so for Smirnoff Fiesta we want to celebrate homegrown talent, which has grown so much in the last couple of years that we feel it is only right that we show the world that Kenyan DJs are just as good, if not better, than their colleagues on the international stage,” said Mbugua.

On top of Smirnoff’s tradition of all-white theme, revelers will this time be expected to come dressed in beach wear to complete the fiesta theme.
“This will not be just any other party; this will be Smirnoff fiesta extra-ordinaire, so we expect to see a lot of our consumers participating in these unique experiences” said Mbugua. “Smirnoff is all about creating extraordinary encounters, so with this fiesta we are promising to deliver yet another outstanding experience for our consumers.”

THE NOSE RING

#fashion &style: handy facts &pointers

Nothing expresses personal style better that a nose ring. However; unlike other piercings; one needs to factor in age and work dress code since the rings are very noticeable. Here are a few pointers to consider:

·         Choose the right nose ring because it sits at a focal point of your face.

·         Keep it simple (KISS): just remember the smaller it is, the more tasteful and classier it looks. Then hoops and studs in the right size make for a chic everyday look.

·    If you have a large nose; a nose ring will only draw more attention to it; so you may want to skip the nose piercing altogether.

SPEZ: SPRUCING UP YOUR DINING

#VINNY’S KITCHEN

Twenty years ago; eating out in Kenya then consisted mainly of choosing between home-cooked food; and well, home-cooked food. A trip to the restaurant was a reserve privilege for the affluent or for special occasions that called for a fun day out.

Fast forward to today; and that is no longer the case. Today, imagine that you are working on important business at the office. What are your options? Dash home and rustle up something quickly? That sounds good. Go to the nearest takeaway to settle for greasy chips? That’s a little better. Tray and ward off your hunger; soldering on through the rest of the day? That is a definite no.

You certainly do not want to deprive yourself of a hearty lunch after working hard all morning. Trust me. The best solution I will tell you for free and you can Google this; is to use a reliable restaurant service that will deliver delicious; quality cuisine to your doorstep.

Nairobi’s Spez gastronomic veterans; Spencer Fondaumiere and Esmeralda De Souza; together with their friends at Eat In launched an innovative online ordering service. It allows you to view the menu; order food online and get free delivery; as easy as one, two, three.

They have created an extensive continental menu, catering especially to lunchtime orders with all the dishes infused with the signature twist of Spez.

Spez has carefully priced all of their meals and snacks under Kes 500; enabling you to indulge in your favorite dishes without breaking the band.

HOW TO: ROCK RED

It’s widely viewed as the colour of love and is associated with meanest of tricks, as seen in the film The Devil Wears Prada. Roses are red, and so is the devil (as some assume him to be). How one colour can be associated with love and devilish traits is still a mystery, but nonetheless, it’s still the official colour of seduction. Red dressed ladies and those in red hot lipstick or heels draw more attention and leave more to anticipation. Sometimes they leave marks like lipstick stains. Red wine is said to be healthier for intake than its alcoholic counterparts.
And then comes February, the popular month of love because of Valentine’s Day when everyone brings out their red dresses. To rock red, you have to be bold. Don’t be afraid to purchase different shades of makeup and diverse attires. To get inspired go to local classifieds here. Find the right shade for your skin tone, the darker you are the bolder  you can be. Here’s another trick – do not rock red every day. To make a statement, you have to make it a surprise. So pick your red makeup or dress exclusively for worthy occasions. Be precise – no lipstick stains on your teeth or wearing ill fitting dresses. Be flawless.
Our Lupita Nyong’o, of 12 Years a Slave fame, was undisputedly the Access Hollywood 2014 Best Dressed celebrity at the Golden Globe Awards and on E! Online, she was named among the Best Dressed at the awards ceremony. All that fuss was because of the way she wore her dashing Ralph Lauren red dress with confidence. For red lipstick, try Manhattan, Suzie Beauty Mac or Sleek products (all available locally), they  hardly stain and stay all day. for more inspiration. Pick a good red nail polish, or flowers, or a chiffon top, or shoes. Ladies, red heels are a must have. Paired with a little black dress (LBD) and you are set to start off any date literally on the right foot.
