NAIROBI’S FLORIDA 2000 (F-2) 30TH ANNIVERSARY

#specialnight

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH 2014

From the 1980s through to the 90s; up until today, younger Kenyans out for a good time throng the  Florida 2000 Discotheque along Moi Avenue. They throng in droves for the famous Sunday Super Jam Session. For many of us, every Sunday at f-2 was like a rite of passage.
For the last three decades, the discotheque at Moi Avenue’s Commerce House has been synonymous with Jam Sessions for the youngsters, hot music for the party goers, cabarets and the famous midnight shows that make city-life more interesting.

This has been synonymous with the famous nightspot for 30 years and today, f-2, as it is popularly known, will host its 30th anniversary party.
The party will be a journey from the past to the present with famous DJS who have etched their reputations on the club’s vinyl spinning golden tunes from years yonder to the lasts spin masters, all under one roof.
It promises to be a wild night unlike any other, celebrating Nairobi’s nightlife. F-2 will also host a special VIP cocktail evening party from 9pm today for invited guests and superstars in recognition of the fans that have always supported them and stayed loyal to the Florida Group.
This comes barely 3-months after the iconic Madhouse Florida was closed down after 35 years of entertaining Nairobi residents.

Down memory lane and young people in the 90s would come to town in the afternoon to go for disco at Boomerang Club up the street, before Jam Session was started to attract them. It took two weeks; the word went out and during then, F-2 did not charge the youngsters.
After that, they started charging sh30; which has since today gone up to sh100.

From us here at Nairobi’z Blogazine- it is Happy 30th Anniversary F-2; keep it #NAINIGHTS.
