Herlinda J. LawrenceI had the chance to visit Ghana last year and the people are some of the most friendly people I have ever met....StartProjectMillionaire.blogspot.com
-
Harold Assou-DodjiIndeed this is a very sad day for the Ghana and the entire African continent. Dark clouds have gathered over the nation but we hope for brighter days ahead. May the soul of this humble servant of the people of Ghana rest in perfect peace.
-
GhanachildVery sad news. Getting ready to go to Ghana in a couple weeks with my family. My parents are from there, but have lived here in the US for over 30 years. They keep up on Ghana politics and loved Atta Mills as the president of their country. He was a good man and excellent president. Ghana will forever remember his legacy. May he rest in perfect peace.
-
thriftdivingI'm biracial and from Maryland, and my husband is Ghanaian. If you ask our 2-year old "Where are you from?" he will tell you, "Me and Brother are from Ghana." Well put, baby....well put.
-
Jessicaboth my parent's are from Ghana too i wasn't born in Ghana either. but i wouldn't refer Ghana as "their" country cause it's my country too.
-
elglclblI don't think Ghanachild was implying that he's not Ghanaian by saying that his "parents are from there." He's just stating a fact that they are from Ghana. I'm sure he cares enough for Ghana and is proud of his "roots." Besides, his username is "Ghanachild" and he bothered to leave a comment in this Ghana-related article, didn't he?
-
Eric BaffoeGhanachild......The way you refer to 'their' country tells me you dont think of yourself as being Ghanaian even though both of your parents are from Ghana.
-
Eric BaffoeJessica......Im glad you see your self as Ghanaian. I was born and raised in Ghana even though I live outside the country now. I find it hard to understand when people say 'My parents are from.....' like they are not connected to that country. In my view, the blood line means something. Where your parents are from is where you are from
-
Edward AppiahWell I was born in the USA and have only been to Ghana once as a kid. Even as a kid I've always stated the USA is my country, Ghana is where my parents are from, period.Sorry that may offend some but that's how I view myself.
-
keepthis100Sad sad sad..he was such a good man..the best leader any african country has had in a long time !!
-
bebe1010May he rest in peace. I had the chance to visit Ghana last year and the people are some of the most friendly people I have ever met.
-
Gregory FisherI lived in Ghana for six good years...and, attended the University of Ghana (Legon). For me Ghana has always been the shining star of Africa. My heart is saddened to hear of this tragic loss to Ghana...and, Africa. I pray that God will continue to comfort the family of President Mills--and, the great nation of Ghana as they mourn this loss.
-
ikekayI pray that God will comfort the citizens of Ghana and his peace to reign in Ghana .

ranger9782Wish there were more selfless leaders like Atta Mills in this world. He doesn't need a statue to be remembered; there's a entire successful country that is a monument to his legacy.
-
Lacey O'Mally, avatar theft is a crimeif Obama had a dictator, he would look like.......
-
Naa Oyoo QuarteyIts just ridiculous how some people are saying former President Mills didn't die of natural causes and coming up with all kinds of conspiracy stories. And they aren't even Ghanaians! Please respect the dead and our leader's memory.
-
ArkadyBless his soul forever. And unlike too many countries on this continent, Ghana will continue in a civilised and peaceful way. It is an African success story like very few.
-
Sun TzuSad day for Ghana. But we've proven our credibility, by democratically, swearing in a new Leader who was the vice in under 4 hours of our former president's passing.
-
2sc00ps, Daily dose of STFUAlright... heading out. Be back in about an hour to check my posting eligibility....There might be something brewing in the Apple CEO sinks company story (Breaking)
-
Eric BaffoeReally sad day for Ghana. This man was an honest tax lawyer respected by many people. Many think he was too honest to be a politician. He was known for his speeches calling for peace. He will be missed dearly. I may not be a supporter of his party but I am Ghanaian and he was my president. REST IN PEACE. You've done your part !!
-
marymag2007My condolence goes to all Ghanian...this is a great lose for such a gently and kind man...RIP.

Lawrence Akoseni cannot believe it till i called home and it was confirmed. What a day for Ghana. I once asked my CEO his impressions about Prof Mills and this is what he said" this man is too honest to be a president".He is a perfect gentleman, a humble man, a giant has fallen. It will be a long time, before God will bring somebody like this man.
RIP Professor Mills. God will keep your family and Ghana. -
guru0zWow, my thoughts go out to the people of Ghana. They must be devastated.
-
John T DuncanWe all knew he was Ghana die sooner or later, but I didn't think it would happen all of a Sudan.
-
AthCliathDon't Gabon about it, what did he die from ?
-
spt999The surprising thing is that Ghana has actually had several presidents. Most countries in Africa have been ruled by at most 2 "presidents" in the last 60 years (i.e. since their Independence). Elections are a joke (due to corruption) in most of these countries, but Ghana seems to have been an exception. I applaud them for that.
-
Dickson E. ShaunMAY THE SOUL OF THE PRESIDENT REST IN PERFECT PEACE
-
HerpesSimpX8Florences' boss? Lionel's dad?
Nice reference -
cnnsbiasednah man, he used to play point guard for the Hawks.
-
TanglinJerry Rawlings a military dictator? That is quite a short cu!. Rawlings took power im 1979 to clean the country of a deeply corrupted mafia like organisation and having done this voluntarily relinquished power AFTER 4 MONTHS. The country having relapsed in its old corrupted habits he took power again in 1981 and was elected as democratic president in 1992 with 58% of the votes (not a "dictatorial score"). The elections had been internationally viewed as fair and the opposition had ample free access to medias and television. He was re-elected in 1996 and retired voluntarily in 2001. The opposition who had been legal and active during both his terms as elected president won narrowly the elections in 2001. For your information the current leaders of Ghana are from Jerry Rawling's party and he himself is the African Union envoy in Somalia to try to help resolve the situation...

Appiah GodwinDeath has touched the first gentleman of Ghana, President John Atta Mills, with his cold hands.
Rest in Peace.
Demirifa Due !!!!!!! -
Fred Onyi EchiejileA performing President has passed on. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
-
midG666Black gold, power, Africa, corruption and assasinations are all bad bed fellows. If you believe President Mills died of natural causes "a few hours after taking ill" you'll believe President John F. Kennedy resurrected in Grand Canyon.
-
Fiifi DekuHe's been ill for the last 3 years but it was never discussed in public. Most Ghanaians knew this. No conspiracy theory here buddy. Just type in his name and sick and see how many hits you get and how far back it dates.
-
rope1Good point. If people will understand this important principle: That the spiritual world dictates the physical; they would understand; this death was carefully planned by some people who will do anything for power. Yes some human beings in this world can actually kill... and not with a gun or physical weapon... yup.
-
dimonddragonAnybody else smell an assassination here? A mystery illness with death within a few HOURS should always make the sixth sense tingle....
-
Ernst BillyWhat a sudden passing away. May your soul rest in peace prof.
-
Bombo AjibolaJourney well Atta. I pray for peace for Ghana and your Family.
-
HoosiercrabbSorry for your lose but good on you for the peaceful transfer of power.
-
cnnsbiasedAt a fast glance I mistook it as "president of CHINA", pheww, my hand already on the phone ready to call my investment adviser to sell all my positions, god knows the end of the world should the guy in China died.
