“WE WANT MINI
SKIRTS”- A SCHOOL STRIKES IN KENYA
OVER MINI SKIRTS
Last week Rwathia Secondary School
in Kangema Kenya ,
hit the media for all the wrong reasons. It was the topic of discussion over in
the media circles, blogs and social media sites.
They found it best
to strike because they claim that their school uniform is too long. It is
difficult at this point in time to understand how the length of these girls’
skirts was affecting their academics but I will leave that to your imagination.
BLOGGER DISCLAIMER:
I agree with a certain youth writer and columnist that strikes are more or less
part of high school life. The high school strike fever is here, being 2nd
term- the longest school calendar term. Strikes are polite picketing held by
human right activists…they are inevitable.
From lack of
adequate food, to a poor diet, to inadequate facilities, to poor teacher-
student relationships… there will always be something our teens have against
any educational system. The difference is in how it is expressed!
