UP MAGAZINE THE UPSTAIRS EVENT GOES DOWN TONIGHT

The Upstairs is back! Join us on the 19th of March on the 4th Floor of Chester house, Koinange Street from 7pm for an evening of great live music.

Experimenting across genres and showcasing talented musicians the Upstairs is a monthly mid-week celebration of Nairobi’s best UP and coming live acts.

Singer-songwriter and Pianist Vereso is the New Kid on the Block. She has been described as Kenya’s very own Macy Gray.

KIU, is Swahili for thirst and subtly symbolizes the passion Pauline, Rosa and Tracy have and share for music. Influenced by the great female artists like Miriam Makeba, Asa, Tshala Mwana, and Mbilia Bel Kiu blend their silky harmonies with an edgy fusion of Afro-Pop and R&B. If their first single “the city” is anything to go by KIU is set for the stars!

Fena Musics "Urban Soul" sound fuses a variety of musical genres, from neo-soul to afro-soul, reggae, hip-hop and afro-house. With the singles “Africa Massive”, “Dutch” and “Brikicho”, under her belt, Fena is a great live act whose star is shining bright.

Calvo Mistari drops behind the scenes drone shots for "Wanabonga”.

Calvo Mistari's new music video will see shots from a drone.

Mistari nowadays is doing less and less press, Instagram has provided a way for him to document his work as “Teammistari” .

The awful thing of it all is that you need to send him a request to follow him, as he is uncomfortable leaving his feeds open for public viewing.

The “Mwanaume ni efffort” rapper took to his instagram to share his new video scenes that’s were shot using a drone in Magadi.

JAMESON ST PATRICKS DAY 2014 AT THE CARNIVORE GROUNDS NAIROBI-THE PHOTOS

Last Saturday was st Patrick ’s Day and a big party went down at the #254. The venue? Carnivore Restaurant. It began at 7pm and Jameson were the organizers behind it.

In line with the Irish spirit; they flew in New York’s DJ Kid Capri and South Africa’s DJ Milkshake. Other local acts performances include DJ Andre and madtraxx.
