#SAVEDAYSTAR
Daystar University is once again on its knees after the
recent unrest and strikes (or go-slow as those in Athi-River call it) in
Athi-River Campus.
With the immense damage all over the media and the
university’s god name tarnished; we have sought our solace and refuge under the
rock-that’s Christ Jesus- the Day-Star Himself!
Even as we pray; at the end of the day; we should never
forget that the destiny of this great university has been placed in your hands
and mine; at a time such as this!
It is now within our ability to make or break this
university. I trust that our divine calling and proclivity will be towards
making it. And so; help us God!
This is not the time for students or the administration to
start soliciting for excuse all in the name of “good P.R” and well edited
press-releases. This is not the time for scapegoating and saying our strike
wasn’t as bad as compared to some public universities we know. No!
None-the less; I do believe there is need to find inspiration
in our African people and also from Jesus in the Bible. Each ending of a season
provides us with time to reflect rather that scream jubilation. And this time;
we can choose to accept it or ignore it!
Is it that time as a community of Daystar we took time to
look deep into our souls; to ask ourselves a few hones and hard questions? If things
had not worked out; what were the genuine reasons and explanations?
Yes; there could very well have been external factors; but
could you or also me have been the principal agent? This is not the time for
war-bit for dialogue.
As we rise up once again; above the hills and into the
bright vista; ushering in a new hope; as Tata Madiba or the late Mandela would
say; is it possible that we can look deep into ourselves; to discover what ails
us as my old man would say? I would
personally pray for reasoned dialogue in the place of the deafening noise that
we make as leaders or even individuals.
Thank you for reading this! I look forward to your great
company! God bless you; God bless Daystar!
