NAIROBI STREET FASHION: FUNKY CHIFFONS…

BY EMBUKANE VINCENT LIBOSSO
F
Ashion has always been a major deal in urban Kenya. And as we transition from the cold weather into a warmer summer, chiffon blouses are making a great comeback again.
They come in different colours and since they are light and revealing; many ladies are finding them comfortable for an office wear and also for a casual wear/look.
The men find them sexy and “naughty” in a way! “I am not sure whether I have seen her chest or not!” one laments to me.
To the ladies; they are naughty tops because they tend to match them with low cut sexy and colourful push up bras.

Many Nairobians are now in sync with international fashion trends. Our girls are keeping it hip and fresh. Check out our picks of the week courtesy of pictures from different s pages on Facebook including our page: NAIROBI’Z BLOGAZINE

HELLO FOOD: EASY DELIVERY WITH JUST A TOUCH OF A BUTTON…

BY EMBUKANE VINCENT LIBOSSO
I
am an avid fan of apps and I came across the Hello Food App that is available on Android and the I-Phone phones.
The app allows you to view different restaurant’s menu directly on your palm. The website platform too allows you to view the menus in a fun and convenient way, as if you were actually seated in the restaurant; ready to make an order.
Hello Food is a new delivery service website in Kenya and one of Kenya’s fastest growing online business.

Their goal from the outset; has been to make ordering food: fun, fast and hassle free. So if you are a Nairobian wanting to get a head start on hunger by ordering on the move, or placing a sneaky lunchtime order during those long morning meetings, then Hello Food is food at your fingertips.
And not only that; you are able to order meals for yourself or if you have a function, for a large group of people.
And the deal gets even better! Hello Food has an impressive catalogue of Nairobi’s best restaurants and you can tailor your search based on your location and specific cravings.

Simply enter your area and search for cuisine type, restaurants or price range. The restaurant index also includes address and delivery hours.
An extra benefit; don’t you just love this already; is that you pay your food at delivery and with no-extra-charge; as if you were ordering at the restaurant.
Basically; with all of the fantastic meals in the city, now only a click away, I don’t think easy food delivery gets better that this.
Oh; hail the great HELLO FOOD!

MATATU ART & CULTURE: RIDING WITH FREE WI-FI…

Some argue that the 90’s were the best times to ride a matatu. There wasn’t one without graffiti or great loud music. You can fold fingers to count matatus with graffiti today.
But even as Nairobi mourns the demise of its moving art gallery; future generations may never know how it felt to ride in moving art.

But the ‘GOOGLE’ generation of today is bringing another strong argument to the table. Forget about mindless depression caused by traffic- you can now enjoy free Wi-Fi while in a mat (as they call it...) on your way to work or to wherever destination.

Safaricom decided to officially start the project on June 15th after pilot installation on several of Nairobi’s matatus including those from Lang’ata; Rongai and Githurai routes.
Talk about technology meeting the matatu culture. The project-“Vuma Online” seeks to build internet audience and is set to cost KSH 7M in its initial phase; targeting to reach over 200 matatus by September this year.

So; the next time a tout comes up to you and tells you that his ‘mat’ is Wi-Fi enabled; or you read the stickers that say this matatu is Wi-Fi enabled; it is real- just ask for the password.

-matatu owners can now buy routers for KES 6,000 and internet bundles worth KES 2,000. For more info; visit www.safaricom.co.ke
