CNN...Bolt sprints to Olympic gold

WORLD REACTION...

  • panflex
Bolt won? I had no idea. NBC was showing jumping horse coverage from 11 AM.
  • astonlad
I have to admit, I never saw the appeal in horse jumping at the Olympics. It should be about human athleticism, not animals. Then again, some people love it so maybe we're in the minority.
  • AgonyF
I watched the Olympics on the Canadian channel.  I remarked about this at the beginning of the Olympics. They really put NBC to shame.
  • panflex
Why wouldn't they show live coverage? They paid all that $ for what? Prancing horses? There wasn't even a medal involved for Pete's sake!
  • fred37ify
Still think Ben Johnson was faster !
  • Elizabeth J. Alicea
But then if they could run, they wouldn't have been Australians in the first place...ProjectMillionaire2012.blogspot.com
  • OnlySoMuch1
TV coverage is later this evening. It was live on the web earlier. He still looks like he didn't run all out!
  • lordryoko
Well that's because NBC knew that a non American would have won...oh and fredi37fy Ben Johnson fastest time is 9.79 and that was disallowed because of his drug use...Bolt fastest is 9.58 without drugs. He ran a 9.63 today. Just congratulate the man already. The Jamaicans dominate the records in this race and you from the U.S. are not pleased. Come on you can't win everything.
  • 1949um
    All those millions, wasted!
  • specialk63
The world watches Bolt's win (except the U.S.): Athletics fans outraged as NBC fails to show 100m final live
    An estimated 2billion people around
the world saw Jamaica's Usain Bolt thrash his rivals to win gold in the
men's 100m final today - but none of them were in the U.S., as NBC
declined to broadcast the historic moment live.Bolt sailed through the semifinals in London this afternoon and upheld his title as the world's fastest man at 4.50pm EDT today. But,
not for the first time this Olympics, NBC took the controversial
decision to hold off broadcasting the hugely popular event until prime
time, leaving millions of track and field fans outraged.
  • 49erfan52
I hate NBC cause of this
  • garwin1
NBC has the absolute worst Olympic television coverage that has ever been. Pathetic!!
  • Kperpective
    Bolt is a legend!
  • 19faye62
I love track and field but I don't enjoy the antics and arrogance of these guys. I like to see a humble hero. Other than that, it was a great race.
  • Reckless Cognition
What is the point of this video coverage by CNN?  Type the report and publish it.  If you're not going to get the rights to the highlights, save my browser the loading time of this useless video.

i just flipped on the match between federer and murray, and federer is clearly not giving it 100 percent.  i only watched a couple of games, and federer missed shots that i easily would make.  methinks roger is throwing the brits a bone.
also funny was the way mcenroe just couldn't believe murray was playing at this level, and roger was missing shots he normally makes, as if he couldn't figure out what's going on.  duh.
  • 100A001
Murray gave US$ 1,000,000 as a bribe to Federer to lose the match.
  • Daniel Grant
Roger didnt play his best but Murrayjust played better than him. Federer was crying when he beat Del Potro in the last match and saying a Singles title in the olympics was the only thing he hadnt won yet. Murray actually has the most wins head to head in the main tour and was beating him by a set and a break b4 the roof was closed in the Wimbledon final.
  • Shelby M. Mallett
Blake is going to leave him behind in the dust. Bolt had many chances to show that he really still had it but hasn't lived up to it in the last several months...SponsoredbyApple.blogspot.com/
  • Dalton77
Federer was recently in the longest match in Olympic history. Believe it or not, these people are human.  Those types of matches take a toll.

    PREVIOUSLY RECORDED.
I am so sick of seeing those words.  Obviously NBC thinks we aren't capable of watching these memorable events LIVE.
Okay; time for me to STOP watching NBC
  • cessnaflyer
    Relax...with a big doobie...
  • CNNMAC
NBC announced they will be showing the world's fastest chicken on Monday.
    Stay tuned....
  • HushYoMouf
NBC is LOUSY.  How can you stream the mens 100M on the web, but show horse jumping on tv?  Someone needs to be replaced.   On the web...I saw them in the blocks...then Bolt crossing the finish line.  Just NICE!
  • BillyBobRedux1Collapse
I am glad Bolt won. He truly deserves it.
  • stopalready1
Personally, I don't like Pistorius.  If he can compete in the para-olympics, why can't Bolt?  This guy wants all the "PC benefits", and wants all of the candy.  He has spring legs that don't require blood/oxygen circulation.  We need to get over PC and let able bodied athletes compete as usual. Pistorius is just ridiculous.
  • 33333eeeee
We urge you to cut your legs off just to show how much of an advantage that is in running.
  • lordryoko
His spring legs as you call them obviously didn't give him any advantage whatsoever but the man has true Olympic spirit, so kudos to him
  • knightmese
@33333eeeee: I think it is more of where do you draw the line. What happens when someone shows up with robotic legs or spring loaded legs that propels them farther than usual?  Pistorius is a great story and I do like watching him run but I think it could set a dangerous precedent for future races.
  • James Walton
NBC did a fine job of covering gymnastics, swimming, etc.  There is a channel (OBASK) devoted exclusively to basketball and one devoted entirely to soccer.  Now that Usain Bolt and the track folks are ready to run, why not devote a channel entirely to track and field?  Enjoyed  Phelps, Gabby, Franklin and the others--but as a tennis and track fan, I want equal attention paid to these sports!
  • jrdickason
No matter--He is still an arrogant, pampas jerk--
  • Avex
If u notice the 100m heats and finals, almost all 100m runners looks arrogant - it is probably requied otherwise they won't have the self believe enough to do what they do
  • NZScientist
"pampas"? I could swear he's from the Caribbean, not the southeastern plains of South American. Or maybe you meant pompous?
He's cocky, no doubt, but also a fantastic athlete. Why not just appreciate his talent?
  • 49erfan52
    Bolt is so amazing!
  • Fente
    Quite an amazing time.
    Congrats !!
  • Ajaycnn
Had Bolt been Chinese, the Brits and Americans would have accused him of drug abuse for breaking the world record!!!
  • peterpanpizz
Actually if a Chinese manages to out sprint a black person that along would prove they are doping or using advance genetics technology.
  • blah123456789
True. It's like seeing a black person get an A on a maths test, you know they are cheating
  • blah123456789
Americans can't stand seeing someone else being stronger, higher, faster....so they invent lame excuses especially when their own athletes cheat all the time (armstrong, marion jones, baseball players, etc)
  • Shinimicas
We know who the cheaters are, and Bolt's not one of them. Face it - the Chinese cheat... always have.
  • blah123456789
Yup, we know who the cheaters are...damn Americans...why do Americans have to cheat to be better?
  • TFD123
The amazing Usain Bolt does it again, and NBC was showing horse jumping.
  • James Walton
How did "Agony" get Canadian television?  How can the rest of us get it?  NBC is lousy!
  • DrJamesW
Maybe Phelps can stay away from the pool long enough to get braces now.
  • PapyrusHater
That was really good, because nobody's ever made a joke about Phelps' teeth before.
    In the last fifteen seconds.
Hey, do one about Phelps and pot.
  • JohnRJohnson
How about Sun Yang, the gold medalist in the 1500 meter freestyle. Did you see the choppers on that kid? Makes British teeth look straight by comparison.
Phelps' teeth aren't that bad. He has a small lower jaw and narrow upper jaw. I don't see how anything but major facial surgery could change that.
  • cykill45
or hit his Bong with interruption for once in his life....
  • pmalte
I would agree not because I respect vanity but because I think that young man would be happier if that were fixed. In the world he lives in, looks are very important. I can still recall some bimbo insulting his appearance in 2008, and I could tell he was hurt. I know she is not worth the shoeshine to shine his shoes, but reality is, it still hurts. I'd fix his teeth ASAP with those clear braces, why not? And pin his ears back too, a simple procedure with a big positive effect. Maybe a minor adjustment to his nose, not making it smaller, just a little more regular. He'd be handsome and happy, and for a fellow at risk of depression, these seemingly minor changes really make a difference.
  • dynomax
Bolt is the ultimate show boat, its all about his ego against his competitors.
  • That's what most losers say...
