NIGERIA AND BIG BROTHER AFRICA

he Guardian News of Nigeria summed up the bunch of the 2007 Big Brother Africa contestants as: “the class of 2007 has played up all the negatives, making BBA 2 look like a terrible experiment in on- air pornography with the girls behaving like sex starved animals in a zoo, and the men like a bunch of barracudas with ‘ uncontrollable third legs’”

The Nigerian House of Representatives on banning the airing of the 2007 season on state TV lamented: “for over 40 days, we have been treated to a gross overdose of sexuality and pornography, the portrayal of women as sex objects… and the spectacle of 12 young Africans whose laziness and love for obscenity is without boundaries.”

Ironically, despite all these views, Nigeria still has the greatest number of BBA viewers with current host Ike (BBA Stargame 2012) hailing from the West African nation.
